Despite the bad weather, the rain and the wind, the Berlin Halbmarathon was a great success: more than 35,000 runners.
The event was attended by about 12,000 Berliners.
The city, perfectly prepared to host events of all kinds, is particularly suited for running as it’s almost entirely in the plain, and it is absolutely accessible from the economic point of view.
The entry fee to the marathon was not expensive: € 98 for the marathon and € 45 for the half marathon.
Which is why the event has attracted participants from all over Europe; the winner: a 21 years old Ethiopian, Birhanu Legese, crossed the finish line along the 21 km in just under an hour (59:45 minutes).
