A 41 year old Iraqi, Rafik y. stabbed a policewoman two days ago in Spandau and he was killed in gunfire by police. One of the bullets fired by officers has incidentally also hit the woman.
She was whisked away in a helicopter and is in serious condition. The man had been stopped while threatening passers-by with a knife.
According to prosecutor Dirk Feuerberg, the bomber would be an Islamic fundamentalist sentenced already in 2008 by a court in Stuttgart for terrorist activity. Rafik had participated in 2004 to planning an attack, foiled, the then Iraqi Prime Minister Ayad Allawi, visiting Germany.
